Sickness sinks my spirit
Sucks away my vim
Feasts on me. Can’t forget
This world was cursed by sin
Healing like a portal
Brings God’s kingdom down
Bathes this basking mortal
In the light of heaven’s Sun
Ill and well in turn
School my heart to feel
Sins’ destroying burn
Forgiveness’ appeal
When sickness brings us death
Sin’s final fatal blow
Grief’s consuming depth
Ebbed — eternality of souls!
But choose, dear soul, today
Your sickly vicious sin
Or the Healer’s way
Living life with Him
