God Gave Us Himself at Christmas

from John 1:14

Verse 1:
Was it by accident?
That God to earth has sent
A helpless baby boy
As good news of great joy

Can this by God’s plan?
That He become a man
And choose as His first bed
Where animals have fed

Chorus:
Nativity – what poetry!
Such beauty draws my eyes to see
Humility, God’s glory
God gave us Himself at Christmas

Verse 2:
A manger marks the spot
That God began His plot
To live with us and so
Our joys and griefs He’ll know

While the universe He guides
His tiny newborn cries
Call me to His side
I choose there to abide

Verse 3:
What kind of God would choose
His own life to loose?
Though I’m wicked and so wild
To make me His own child

The kind of God that left
Heaven on a quest
To conquer death and sin
So that I might dwell with Him
